Springfield Ramblers Premier League challenge came to an end after a great season with this home defeat to Corinthian Boys. On a very hot morning the home side had the better of the exchanges in the first half and played some good football to keep Corinthians on the back foot. The big moment of the half came when Springfield Ramblers were awarded a penalty just before half time. Though Jason Abbott struck the penalty very well he was foiled by the Corinthians goalkeeper who made a great save low to his left.
Springfield Ramblers continued to play well at the start of the second half and went ahead when Dave Cahill was played through with a great pass from Jason Abbott and lobbed the advancing keeper to score. However the away side upped the ante from then on and began to gain control. Three goals followed in fifteen minutes and left Springfield Ramblers chasing the game. But try as they might they could not pull back the deficit.
